Chapter 6 – The SMS|Host HelpSite: Your Most Powerful Resource

In this post, I want to take a moment to give a shout-out to the folks behind the SMS|Host HelpSite and it’s expanding content. If you have not visited the site in a while from your SMS|Host <F1> Function Key, you are likely in for a surprise as to the extent and depth of documentation, training and context-sensitive assistance that is readily available. The current SMS|Host release, 2021r1, has also introduced a new landing page and even provided an access point for these Notes from Product Management.

Lee St. Onge, our Content and Education Manager, is passionate about empowering Users to receive the maximum benefit from the wealth of functionality in their SMS|Host system. Under his guidance, the site has grown from a simple collection of documentation to become a version-specific information hub based around searchable, User-focused topics. “How to” screens guide you through operational basics with step-by-step task explanations, field descriptions and button definitions along with illustrations and hyperlinks to related subjects and additional materials.

The Documentation section presents the publications that are related to your property’s installed version (e.g. New Feature Guide, Update Instructions and the ReadMe file of fixes), as well as the most recent revisions of numerous Module, Interface and Administration & Configuration guides. A link is also provided to a library of documents from prior releases.

For those properties with subscriptions to the Springboard eLearning service, the HelpSite offers convenient access to the catalog of videos and interactive tools for on-boarding new employees and providing refresher training to existing staff on various SMS software products.

Additional links provide connections to Product Support and further resources such as the webinar and newsletter archives, hospitality blogs and articles, as well as overviews of SMS Solutions, Products and Services. A login to the on-line Customer Community offers easy access to searchable Knowledge articles, customer Q&A and on-line Chatter with SMS staff and other Users.

Topics and links are being added and updated all the time. Explore the wealth of information behind the <F1> key on your keyboard and take full advantage of this gateway to your storehouse of resources.
